2014 KATS’s Premier Cup Regatta

On Saturday and Sunday, 19th and 20th July, Kids And The Sea (KATS) BVI along with Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Clubs of the BVI, and platinum sponsors Nanny Cay, Digicel and Nagico Insurances,  will host the Annual Premier’s Cup International Youth Regatta and Nanny Cay Marina.

The event is the only youth sailing event in the Caribbean. It brings together young people between the ages of 10 and 18 for a weekend of fellowship and competition.

The public is welcome to attend the event in Nanny Cay, meet the youth competitors and watch the action. Shore side events will take place in addition to the race activity.

Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta and Rendezvous 2015

The 2015 Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous dates have been set for 2015. The annual event brings together sail and motor yacht during a 4-day event for boat owners, families and friends.

The event takes place 11 -14 March 2015 and will take place in the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), North Sound Virgin Gorda. The event is organised by both YCCS and Boat International Media.

Caribbean Well Represented at Youth Olympic Games

The Caribbean will be well represented at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). Several Caribbean youth will compete in this event of which takes place on Jinniu Lake in Nanjing, China, from August 18 to 23.

Puerto Rican Laser sailor Juan ‘Juanky’ Perdomo, who won a Gold medal at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship last year in Cyprus, has been named an Athlete Role Model for this summer’s YOG. Perdomo will play a key role in supporting, mentoring and offering advice to the 100 young sailors who will be competing.


Foxy’s 40th Wooden Boat Regatta

Foxy’s in Jost Van Dyke, BVI hosted its 40th Wooden Boat Regatta last weekend. There were 20 participants competing in four classes. Eight of the 20 boats were wooden boats – in the past Foxy’s would see up to 120 wooden boats competing in this race.

The winner of the Wooden Boat Class was Dr Robin Tattersall of Tortola, BVI. Tattersall came in first place in this class 39 years ago and has been a long-term participant in this annual event.

2014 BVI Dinghy Championships off Nanny Cay
